What is Stori?

The 21st century has seen a disruption within families as children move away from their parents hometowns to live in bigger cities, sometimes thousands of miles away. Stori is an interactive story telling platform that bridges this distance by allowing grandparents to create stories that their grandchildren can experience, remotely.

How does it work?

Stori uses a combination of a mobile app, a wearable device and stickers to work. Grandparents use the app to create stories which are then narrated to the grandchild through the wearable device.

The grandchild walks into different spaces of the house and scans stickers stuck there which unfolds the story.

How do the grandparents build the story?

The grandparents start out by selecting the rooms the characters will live in. They then assign the character a characteristic. For example, in this case. the ghost who is the protagonist, lives in the porch/yard. The grandparents then pick one story telling trope. The story is then auto-generated from this information. Since there are many combinations possible, the story seems new to the grandchild even though it is created from a relatively limited number of options.

How does the child experience the story?

Once the characters are in place and the story has been created, the grandchild can go from room to room to experience the story. The wearable device narrates the story through the characters allowing for a multi-sensory experience.
